I've been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a long time but never felt quite comfortable with the "techie" side of it. Well, I don't feel quite comfortable still but figured I'd give it a try anyways. So, here it is. My official debut into the blogosphere. Yay!
This week has been a challange. 2 of 4 kids a sick, not to mention me as well and I had my nephew with us for 2 mornings at the beginning of the week. That was probably the hardest as he was dropped off at 7 in the morning. We are NOT morning people!
Anyways, I was still able to get some painting in. In a moment of inspiration, I decided to paint our fireplace mantle. It was this bold white against a taupish wall and it was driving me crazy. We just moved into this house 2 months ago and I'm changing as much as we can afford/have time to change. I wish I took a "before" picture of the fireplace. Although it's not quite yet done, I'm already loving it. After much deliberation and many countless trips to the Home De-Pot, I decided on "Galvanized" by Ralph Lauren. My husband thought I was crazy to spend so much money on a can of paint but honestly, I tried the other brands and couldn't find a dark enough brown. I was oringinally thinking of spray painting it but and couldn't find a dark enough brown. I did have my doubts though when the first coat went on. It was very red. But after 3ish coats and dry time, it is now the lovely black brown of my furniture. I just can't stop looking at it. If I get the chance, I'll post an "after" pic. Still have to take said pic though! I still have to finish the top of the mantle (it's still white) and put on a third coats on some parts. Of course, I must go and be a "mommy" first.
